“For I Know The Plans I Have For You…”

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.–Jeremiah 29:11

First of all, I pray that no one is sick.

After that, as long as all is well with the Palin/Heath families, I am committed to trusting that the perfect plan that God has for Sarah Palin is something different than I and many others had hoped for.  Even expected.  I freely and happily admit that I had no doubts–none at all–that she was going to run for the GOP nomination for President in 2012.

Not only that, but I was–and remain–convinced that she would have won.

Decisively.

I have admired, respected, and been inspired by Gov. Palin for over three years.  Since the first day I heard her speak, when McCain introduced her that August day, I have known, down in my bones, that she was “the real deal.”  That hasn’t changed.  Sarah Palin is the ‘real deal,’ a genuine America-loving citizen who has a special gift for sharing that love and stirring in the hearts of  millions of her fellow citizens a passion and determination to restore our country to her founding principles.

I profoundly thank her for that, and for all she has done for the purpose of restoring America.

And it’s not over.  Not by a long shot.

I was as stunned as anyone when I first heard the news.  I was finishing supper, in a hurry, getting ready to leave for my ‘real’ job, when a friend called me and said, “turn over to the news, Palin just announced, she’s not running.’

Turning immediately over to FOX and also immediately leaving my plate and going to my computer, knowing I would find it quicker on Twitter or Facebook, I saw the reports, enough of them, and from reputable sources, including Sarah herself, to be convinced that the unthinkable was true.  She wasn’t running.

Upon arriving back home this morning, after a long 12 hours of no news and no communication with fellow Palin supporters, I’ve spent some time perusing the interwebnettubes reading and seeing a variety of responses.  I wanted to add my own.

I am heartbroken that I won’t be able to vote for the first person running for a political office who inspires me as much as Palin does.  It feels like a terrible loss.

But, I take her at her word.  If her prayers for guidance have led her to this decision, then I trust that.  I take her at her word that this is what she must do, in order to do what’s best for her family.  I would be disappointed in her if she didn’t put her family first.

I will continue to stand beside Sarah Palin.  She is going to continue to work to save this country, and she can’t do it by herself.  She needs us now more than ever.

God bless Sarah Palin, and all her family.  God bless and keep her safe and strong.  God bless her efforts to restore America.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

God’s plans are often not what we would choose for ourselves.

But we serve an awesome God, and His plans are always perfect.

I feel exactly as you do! I have so much admiration and respect for Sarah Palin and I trust her decision. Well written and thank you!

Beautifully written, I agree 100%. Yes we must trust Sarah as we have for 3 years. She didn’t do all this for nothing, in other words “she didn’t bring us this far to leave us”. She has a great sense of what is right, and a great way of communicating that. I’ll stick with her judgment and wait to hear who she supports in this race.

Very well said, Conservative Pup. Thank you.
I have trusted Sarah for three years, and she has never let me down…except for the McCain endorsement, but I forgave her that one :-)
I have also always believed that she is Gods own tool. I still do. I trust God, and I trust Sarah.
I’m standing with her in her decision, and will help her in any way that she needs to help restore America.

Pup, when I heard that Sarah was not running, my next thought was of you. I feel really mixed about it, but I do believe she will be a huge asset in the campaign. As you have expressed so eloquently, God has a plan for her, and she made this decision with Him. Of that, I have no doubt.

We desperately need a voice speaking about small government, constitutionality, and energy. We are on the verge of electing Mitt Romney now (although maybe Cain can pull this off, but I doubt it). Everything Sarah says is heard. I don’t know of another soul but Barack Obama receiving that same treatment. She is the one person they cannot silence, and they cannot bury her message.

Great post. I think you speak for all of us with what you said.

My thoughts and feelings exactly! Thank you!!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree with you and we just need to pray that she continue her role with the Tea Party movement. AND MAYBE…. there would be a third party, more powerful than the two. I pray for God’s will always.

Take care,

Thank you all for your kind words and for also continuing to support the Gov. I still feel really disappointed, but I know that I have no way of knowing what the future holds, for her, for me, for our country. I will focus on paying attention to elections to Congress all over the country. I have a feeling that whether Obama ‘wins’ in 2012 or the GOP establishment’s choice of candidate wins, we are going to need strong Congressmen and women, and strong governors all over the country.

Thanks again to all of you for reading and for commenting. I appreciate you.

Maggie, you’re a good and kind person. I appreciate your thinking of me; it was a kick in the gut.

But I truly believe what I wrote; my feelings about it are just that, my feelings. Disappointment and loss. But as I said above, it’s more important now than ever to elect good Constitutional conservatives to Congress, and as many governorships as possible. We’re not going to have a great president come 2013, no matter which side wins. So it will be up to Congress and us to restore America, and Sarah Palin will be right in the thick of it, I’m sure.

Thanks again, Maggie. You’re a good friend.

Maggie@Maggie'sNotebook October 11, 2011 at 8:14 pm

Pup, thank you so much! I feel the same about you. Isn’t it odd how we can know someone by their writing day-after-day. After we write enough, it’s a far better barometer than having lunch with a friend.

These things are so deeply personal. Most people cannot understand how we can be so passionate about politics and spend most of our time tending to it, but it is only because we care about this country, and know that when the right thing is done at the ballot box, America will have a chance.

There is a special place for Sarah, and it will be visible to all of us – probably on election day:-)

(btw, I’m nauseous at Christie’s endorsement of Romney, but you know, it just shows that Christie is who we knew he was.)

Dear Pup,

With all due respect for your feelings toward Sarah Palin I can not nor would I support her in her run for POTUS.
Palin is a quitter .When the going got tough and the heat was turned up, she bailed as Governor of Alaska. God can not use quitters unless they humble themselves and repent. I haven’t see that from her.
If you recall the story of King David. So many times he was beset by all kinds of problems, attacks on his person, his family, but he never quit, instead he turned to God for strength and wisdom to handle the situation. I can’t see that Palin has done any of this. All I can see is that she takes advantage of the moment to enrich herself and in the mean time stays out of the firestorm . She has reminded me of a child playing in the fire, poking in and out but never adding to or extinguishing the blaze.
Quitting is not a sign of good leadership.
Thanks for allowing me to express my opinion.
Thanks to Maggie for having this link posted on her site.

Bruce O'Hara October 18, 2011 at 8:23 pm

Sarah is not a quitter. Sarah was hounded from office by a non stop relentless attack by liberal jackals, using the courts as a baseball bat, whose intent was to destroy her financially and career wise. A quitter would have faded from the scene. Sarah took the only way out that allowed her to stay in the battle. And stay in the battle she did by coming down to the lower 48 and being instrumental in the historical political tsunami that decimated the Dem Party at both the State and Federal levels.
If the jackals had left her alone once she lost the VP race, they would have been a lot better off. But they were out for blood, they were out to utterly CRUSH her. Fortunately for us, that is Patriotic Americans, she was not a quitter and came back and slapped the Left hard. I guess they shouldn’t have made her mad…

Hey Ticker, thanks for coming over from Maggie’s. She’s one of the best.

I appreciate your taking the time to come by and comment. I couldn’t disagree with you more on your perspective, the common and–forgive me for saying–unimaginative perspective of Palin being a “quitter.”

When Palin resigned her governorship the attacks and spurious ethics charges, which were costing Alaska money, effort, and time, stopped. The leftist attacks followed her, and left the state alone. She made the unconventional and more courageous decision to step away from a job she had worked hard for, had been successful at, and loved. She made a personal sacrifice to step away, knowing the fire would follow her. It did.

I could almost hear her saying, “OK, you want a fight, I’ll give you one, but you’re not going to hurt Alaska in the process. You want a piece of me, come on, but let’s take it outside.”

One of Palin’s strengths is that she totally understands the mindset of the radical organized left. She understood that they were using the ethics reform that she herself had pushed for, against her, and that they would not stop. Pure Alinsky.

She’s smart enough to know that her action would be seen as ‘quitting.’ She was strong enough to do it anyway. It does take a rare kind of savvy to do what’s best, even when you know it’s going to be misunderstood by many. It also takes a strong faith in God to trust His guidance when it goes against conventional wisdom and public opinion.

Thanks again for coming by and commenting. We disagree on this, but I looked at your blog and I’m sure there are many other areas that we do agree on.
