The President With A Bullhorn

God bless President Bush, and I thank him for inspiring and comforting me with these words, and for keeping me and my family safe for all the remainder of his term.

I must respectfully but totally disagree with your assessment of Bush. To me the real question was whether he was the worst president of all or only one of the worst. With Comrade Zero now at the helm the mantle of “worst of all” has been preempted so Bush is off the hook for this honor but he’s still a strong contender for second place.

This was a man who had absolutely no understanding of the Constitution (personally I doubt he ever read it), whose minions came up with the Patriot Act, one of the most appalling and unconstitutional invasions of civil liberties in the history of the country, the man who had to kill capitalism in order to save it, the man who provided the thin edge of the wedge to Comrade Zero with the original bailout, and so forth and so on. This man was a curse, not a blessing. The fallout from his abysmal record will be with us for years.

Sneed,

You and I will forever disagree about President Bush, and that is alright. I actually do understand most of your reasons. I respect your right to your opinion, and would defend your right to express it, as I would my own.

I think Bush did the best he could under extremely difficult circumstances. He perhaps erred on the side of caution and doing what in his opinion, would help keep Americans safe from future attacks. I acknowledge that I could be totally wrong, I am judging him from a distance, as are you (I’m assuming you don’t know him personally, and neither do I) but I judged him to be a man with character and moral courage. Doesn’t mean I always agreed with him, I didn’t, but I believed the character was there.

I don’t think that about the current president. Just to be clear.

Thanks as always for reading and commenting.

Pup: Actually I agree with about everything you said (and I did not know him personally). He seemed to have character and courage but was lacking in intellect and understanding of how the country, a constitutional republic with limited powers, was intended to function and of the proper role of the executive therein. He clearly had no understanding of civil liberties nor of what the word “capitalism” even means.

Comrade Zero is a different topic and I doubt we’d disagree about much regarding that dunce. Wilson should have offered to apologize for his outburst if Zero apologized for lying. Rudeness is one thing, and not very high on my scale of horribles, but outright lying on a matter of substance is another and much higher on that same scale. Whether or in what form the country survives this disaster are the real questions. Cheers.
