This piece contains one of the best sentences I’ve read in a long time. “Those Facebook pages she’s tossing around like ninja throwing stars, are eloquent proof that no one has the right to pat Sarah Palin on the head and send her out of the room, while the grown-ups settle down to serious talk.”
I love that image, of Palin tossing ninja throwing stars, first at Cap-And-Trade, then over at Health Care Reform, all with tack-sharp accuracy.
Doctor Zero over at Hot Air wrote these words in response to this piece by Charles Krauthammer. Like Doctor Zero, it is exceedingly rare for me to disagree with Krauthammer, but this is one of those times. I’d love to be able to sit with him face-to-face and discuss it.
When I first read that she was posting her thoughts on Facebook, I was glad, and hoped that she would then also begin speaking publicly and writing longer pieces as op-eds for the Wall Street Journal and other “mainstream” publications. To my happy surprise, her “thoughts” on Facebook are as articulate, thorough, and annotated as any op-ed in any paper anywhere, and more so than in many of the rags that pass for newspapers these days. Not that I thought for one minute that she wasn’t articulate, but, not being that familiar with Facebook, was picturing a more informal style of writing.
It’s shrewd of her to use Facebook for her pulpit. More people will read her articles there, than if they were being carried in the WSJ, or Townhall, or any other internet medium I can think of. Leave it to Sarah to be unconventional, but effective.
And effective she is. The left is deeply afraid of her. Why else would she have been, and continue to be the target of some of the most vile, vicious, and merciless verbal and print attacks in recent history? Most people don’t waste time attacking people whom they don’t fear.
They fear her because they know what we know: she is the real deal. She is authentic. She is an American citizen with a talent for speaking in public who is very good at showing us her deep love for her country. And she is fearless. The left recognizes her for the threat to them that she is, just as we recognize her as one of the best hopes for preserving America, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Sarah Palin is to the left, as antiseptic, fresh air, and sunlight are to a germ-laden room.
Keep throwing those ninja stars, Sarah.

I agree that her reach on Facebook is much larger than with more mainstream media.
Still – as I’ve said before. Facebook is more a social-networking site – as you said, more informal. While she may be getting her word out to a broader spectrum of people – the method she’s using doesn’t give her alot of credibility. Most people use Facebook to catch up with old friends and keep family up to date on the latest adventures of Junior.
I hope she moves away from Facebook eventually and gets her word out in ways that will enhance and support her credibility.
Because I do want to hear more from her .
You make a good point. I am very inclined toward supporting her every decision, but I will agree with you that I do hope to see her begin to publish her good work in other venues. Because I do know that no matter how much I might like her, and agree with her, she needs to grow her credibility with those who aren’t so certain about her.
Thanks Kris.
I love Sarah. She is indeed the real deal and the left is terribly afraid of her. That’s why they spend all their time telling anyone who will listen how nuts she is. Yep, they fear her alright. I hope she prospers. She is very intelligent.
Have a terrific day.
