Dr. Charles Krauthammer has written a most excellent piece called “Sacrilege At Ground Zero.” I strongly recommend it.
The thought of a mosque built at the spot where thousands of innocent people, mostly Americans, were murdered by fanatic Islamist jihadists makes me sick. I no more believe that the intent is “for healing” than I believe I can fly. Any thinking person with a shred of common sense and sensitivity knows this isn’t true.
Even if the people who want to build the mosque, given the benefit of the doubt, truly have it in their hearts to ‘build a bridge’ with the American people, they are totally lacking in sensitivity to the American people and our grief for the lost who were present in the Twin Towers that morning. What person, genuinely caring for others, would intentionally proceed with plans that so clearly offend and sadden so many New Yorkers, 9-11 families, and Americans all over the country?
No one, that’s who.
That’s why no matter what the reasons given, they are untrue. There is only one reason for practicing Muslims to desire to build a mosque in that location. And to dedicate it on the 10th anniversary of the date of the attacks.
Only one reason.
To declare victory.
Dr. Charles Krauthammer has written a very articulate piece sharing his thoughts on this. His is the best I’ve read yet on this.
I also very much enjoyed this from the Hillbuzz guys a short while back, when they speculated about the possibility of all kinds of on-the-job problems the mosque might have. I have no trouble believing that the boyz are on target with their thinking.
Makes me smile to think of it.
