Reverse side of Massachusetts State Quarter 20...
Image via Wikipedia

Lots going on this week and next.  The special election in Massachusetts for the people’s seat, which had been held by Ted Kennedy all his adult life, has captured the attention of the nation.  The results of this race between Scott Brown and Martha Coakley will affect all of us in a way most state elections don’t.  There’s information about this, and lots of other good stuff in the picks below.  Have a good weekend everybody.

Watching The Nation is a good place to start for the Brown-Coakley race.  Kathy fills us in on how involved the unions are in this, for Coakley of course.  But, as we learn, money doesn’t buy loyalty.

The great state of Texas shows us again why she is a great role model for the other 49.  Uncommon Sense has the details on how Texas won’t accept federal money designed to gain more control over the education system.  Texas believes it knows best how to deal with Texas’ children and their schooling and isn’t interested in the strings attached to the money the fed want to give them.  To which I say, “Hurrah For Texas.”

Dems/libs/leftists want income to be equal for all.  This letter from a doctor, at America You Asked For It!, illustrates that the problem isn’t the income, it’s what personal responsibility, or lack thereof, leads one to spend it on.

Kris has done an excellent job discussing Haiti and the devastation there, and efforts underway to assist that poor-to-begin-with little country.  The Haitians were bad off before the earthquake, and now…it is incomprehensible.  Reflections by Kris reminds us all how grateful we all should be “for the completely unmerited blessing of being born in the United States of America.”

The Reaganite Republican has a great up-to-date report on Scott Brown and the race in Massachusetts.  All the dirty details, the shenanigans, and the best moments with James’ characteristic wit and wisdom, it’s a must-read.

Another Black Conservative reports on how the Dems might fall back on reconciliation if Brown wins.  They will stop at nothing, on their health care reform suicide mission.

More on Haiti, this time focusing on how to donate your hard-earned money, or more specifically, how NOT to donate, even more specifically, to whom not to donate it.  (Think a big white house with lots of sticky fingers.) Andrew at Roman Around tells us what Rush Limbaugh really said, and how Robert Gibbs distorts it.

I think the Left Coast Liberal is on to something here, in fact, I’m sure of it.  Sad as it is that there are many people who don’t pay any attention at all to political news, this could work to Scott Brown’s (and our) advantage.  Good call.

Just A Conservative Girl wins the gave-me-a-good-laugh award for displaying the new seal of the Democratic Party.  Perfect!

We’ve all seen it.  We’ve all thought it.  Now, the truth about the IQ’s of government bureaucrats at It’s Only Words, where she delightfully shows us some real-life examples.

Rush Limbaugh did NOT say ‘don’t donate to Haiti causes’ and The Frugal Cafe Blog Zone has the transcript to prove that left-wing media and the White House are blatantly lying to the American public.

COMMON CENTS has a great collection of videos, pertaining to Scott Brown’s campaign.  These will perk you right up, and remind you that in this country, anything is possible.

I love those ‘boyz’ at Hillbuzz.  They are gay, lifelong Democrats, passionate Hillary supporters.  They are also fervent patriots who “love America more than anything else in this world.” They have become tremendously supportive of Sarah Palin and all she stands for, and believe that the Democratic Party has been taken over by lunatics and should now be called the Liberal-Socialist Democratic Party.  One of my favorite lines from them:  “…they [the Democrats] miscalculated when they believed people like us — lifelong Democrats — would just go along with all of this, and blindly keep voting Democrat.” These “boyz” are no boys at all, they are good and decent men.  They have a great post here about Martha Coakley and why they decided to speak out against her and support Scott Brown.

I share these picks of mine with you because they represent some of my favorite words of the week.  I regularly visit all these blogs, and am so proud to know, virtually anyway, most of the fine writers at these blogs.

Pup, thumbs up mentioning the amazing bloggers at HillBuzz… they’ve been hilarious with their Martha Coakley photo caption contest this week. And thank you so much for the link to Frugal Café Blog Zone… while he is often controversial, a rough and tumble kind of guy, Rush Limbaugh is being attacked falsely by left-wingers about what he said about Haiti donations.

While Obama’s dot-gov website (the one we the taxpayers paid more than $18 million for) isn’t collecting donations for Haiti as was originally presumed it would be, Limbaugh was spot-on about how governments waste, mismanage, and sometimes steal monies intended for causes and charities.

While it isn’t happening this time with Team Obama and Haiti, Limbaugh was accurate in warning listeners to not donate money for any charity through our government (nor through the Haitian government), but through proven organizations like the Red Cross, who have a much better track record at being fiscally responsible. The US government already uses taxpayers’ money to help other countries in distress, but if Americans want to donate to additionally help Haiti, DON’T give that donation to the government. Give to the Red Cross instead.

Typical of the left-wing media to maliciously prune what Limbaugh said to make it sound like he said to not donate at all. Miscreant liars.

Pup – thanx again for honoring me with a Pup’s Pick!

For honesty’s sake, I need to point out that the quote you use came from a commenter at Hot Air – I give that credit on my blog. Just want to be fair. I wish I did say it.
