Kathy, you're absolutely right. You don't have to write a thing on them, just the fact that they're pink. I say, go for it!

I like "gobsmacked" too! Think I'll start using it. Thanks Kris. :) And thanks too for sharing that story about your encounter with the ostrich (head-in-sand) liberal. I can just imagine myself in the same position. Actually, I've been in a similar position, and it is so very frustrating--they don't know about anything that I hear about on a regular basis. Yet, they continue on as if I hadn't spoken. No curiosity, no moment of "hmm, maybe I should find out about that" for them.

Kathy, I think you should send those pink slips. You could just write "YOU'RE FIRED!" on them, and give the 'last day of work' as whatever day their term ends early in 2011. Or just write on it, "I'm voting to fire you in 2010." I'd do that to mine, but mine are some of the good ones. :)

Thanks all of you for your comments.

Kathy - isn't it a great word?! Wish I could take credit for it, but it's a Brit term. Means "flabbergasted, astounded, shocked". And it sounds SO much better than any of those words.

I had a debate with the owner of a local vineyard this past weekend. (Said debate ruined what could have been a lovely wine tasting; we won't go back.)

He declared himself a very liberal Democrat to anyone who would listen, then started to pick a fight about healthcare with any who would respond to him. I had not said anything about my politics as I don't think a wine tasting the appropriate place but...never one to back off a challenge I allowed him to engage me.

It was infuriating to say the least. Head-in-the-sand, unaware of the true impact of the healthcare being ramrodded thru. Completely clueless about what it all means - and content to stay that way.

When I observed, more than once, that not one person in Congress has indicated that they read the legislation they were voting on, and observing also that I find it unconsionable that they wouldn't read it, the vineyard owner's response was - Well I'm sure they'll read it eventually.

I was gobsmacked. When I pointed out that it would probably be a good idea for the people voting on it to know what's in it, he just shrugged and tried to dodge the issue by claiming that because I'm a conservative I don't care about people (or words to that effect). I told him point blank in a room full of people that it's not that I don't care, it's that I don't think Congress knows what it's doing.

And these are the kinds of people that have put this country in peril. These idiots voted for Obama and his minions. 2010 needs to see some serious changes or this country is heading down a painful and frightening path.

Yes, they think we are all stupid. This administration scares me like no other. I thought Jimmy Carter was the worst. I'm thinking this one will out do that administration by leaps and bounds.

Have a terrific day. :)

The major problem, with credit to the Who: Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. The wretched and sniveling republicans had control of both houses of congress and the WH for six years and let's not forget what they did with it. Given the chance they will do it again. The only real progress can be at the state level. For dc, just root for gridlock.
