I’m glad it’s not just me.
After spending the afternoon on Thursday glued to the television news once I learned of the slaughter at Ft. Hood, Texas, I listened to Obama’s “address to the nation” regarding the murders. I wasn’t expecting him to be “Bush-like” or to be comforting, at least not to me. I have very low expectations of our president at this point; however, even I was stunned at what I saw and heard from our Commander-in-Chief.
He did not speak straight away to the tragedy. Instead, he started out as if nothing had happened. So much so, that I truly believed that I was watching file footage from earlier in the day, and that he hadn’t come on yet to speak. Lo and behold, it was live, and it was chilling.
Addressing an audience of Native Americans gathered for some conference, the PINO (president-in-name-only) thanked a bunch of people, and seemed like he hadn’t a care in the world. Giving a “shout-out” to “Dr. Joe Medicine Crow” Obama mistakenly called him a “Congressional Medal of Honor winner,” when in fact, Dr. Medicine Crow was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in August, 2009, by President Obama.
Finally, several minutes into his thank-yous and acknowledgments and shout-outs, he proceeded to speak to us about the terrible assault on American soldiers on American soil.
He was, in a word, impassive. In more words, he was passionless, perfunctory, emotionless, apathetic, unfeeling. He brought no comfort, he imparted no uplifting words of support. It was one of his worst acting jobs yet.
He left me cold.
Like Chris Matthews, I got a chill. Mine was down my spine, though, and it wasn’t pleasant.
The words of Robert A. George, of NBC Chicago, were perhaps the most apt of all. “Frightening insensitivity following the shootings” expressed precisely what I and many others thought.
Without intending to, Obama reveals more and more of himself with each hastily put together and unprepared speech.
I’m not writing this to simply be critical of Obama. I am critical of him, but this goes deeper than just my personal distaste for his agenda and lack of any shred of respect for his character. I fear that we have one of the most narcissistic presidents we’ve ever had, to the point of being pathological. I also strongly suspect that he’s also a sociopath. None of which would matter much, if he weren’t our President and Commander-in-Chief of our armed forces.
Others share this suspicion and belief. I did a google search on some search words and found the following interesting results:
google search “obama sociopath narcissist”=146,000 results
google search ‘obama sociopath’ =1,820,000 results
google search ‘obama narcissist’ =2,20,000 results
As a healthcare professional, I would never presume to diagnose and declare someone either a sociopath or a narcissist. For one thing, it is beyond the scope of my nursing license to diagnose. It’s also unprofessional to diagnose someone from a distance. But I can freely form an unprofessional opinion based on what I see and hear.
My opinion is that he very well could be either, or both.
But, again, just my opinion.
Shared..by..many..other..people.
How could such a person get elected leader of the greatest country in the world? Who doesn’t see through the facade to the character, or lack of, within?
Dr. Sam Vaknin, an expert on narcissism, identifies four types of people who aid and facilitate narcissists: the adulators, the blissfully ignorant, the self-deceiving, and those deceived by the narcissist. Dr. Vaknin continues:
“The adulators are fully aware of the nefarious and damaging aspects of the narcissist’s behaviour but believe that they are more than balanced by the benefits – to themselves, to their collective, or to society at large. They engage in an explicit trade-off between some of their principles and values – and their personal profit, or the greater good.
They seek to help the narcissist, promote his agenda, shield him from harm, connect him with like-minded people, do his chores for him and, in general, create the conditions and the environment for his success. This kind of alliance is especially prevalent in political parties, the government, multinational, religious organizations and other hierarchical collectives.
The blissfully ignorant are simply unaware of the “bad sides” of the narcissist- and make sure they remain so. They look the other way, or pretend that the narcissist’s behavior is normative, or turn a blind eye to his egregious misbehaviour. They are classic deniers of reality. Some of them maintain a generally rosy outlook premised on the inbred benevolence of Mankind. Others simply cannot tolerate dissonance and discord. They prefer to live in a fantastic world where everything is harmonious and smooth and evil is banished. They react with rage to any information to the contrary and block it out instantly. This type of denial is well evidenced in dysfunctional families.
The self-deceivers are fully aware of the narcissist’s transgressions and malice, his indifference, exploitativeness, lack of empathy, and rampant grandiosity – but they prefer to displace the causes, or the effects of such misconduct. They attribute it to externalities (“a rough patch”), or judge it to be temporary. They even go as far as accusing the victim for the narcissist’s lapses, or for defending themselves (“She provoked him”).
In a feat of cognitive dissonance, they deny any connection between the acts of the narcissist and their consequences (“His wife abandoned him because she was promiscuous, not because of anything he did to her”). They are swayed by the narcissist’s undeniable charm, intelligence, or attractiveness. But the narcissist needs not invest resources in converting them to his cause – he does not deceive them. They are self-propelled into the abyss that is narcissism. The inverted narcissists, for instance, is a self-deceiver.
The deceived are people – or institutions, or collectives – deliberately taken for a premeditated ride by the narcissist. He feeds them false information, manipulates their judgement, proffers plausible scenarios to account for his indiscretions, soils the opposition, charms them, appeals to their reason, or to their emotions, and promises the Moon.
Again, the narcissist’s incontrovertible powers of persuasion and his impressive personality play a part in this predatory ritual. The deceived are especially hard to deprogram. They are often themselves encumbered with narcissistic traits and find it impossible to admit a mistake, or to atone.
They are likely to stay on with the narcissist to his – and their – bitter end.”
Sounds an awfully lot like someone we know.

He scares me to pieces. He’s so anti-American. He’s so supportive or Islam. Scares me something awful.
I do agree with your assessment here though.
Pup-
Truly some of your best work. I also enjoyed the links very much, especially that from Robin Of Berkeley/American Thinker. (Thanks!)
Malignant Muslim narcissist?
I’m inclined to believe that only the adulators, blissfully ignorant, self-deceiving and deceived can doubt this truth. You have hit them square in the mouth.
Yet the most recent numbers in the Real Clear Politics poll shown on Fox has this trash with a 51.4% approval rating. The retarded chickens of the American educational system coming home to roost.
When you shake his hand be sure to count your fingers and look to see if there is a knife in your back. This man is the most insensitive person I have seen in the White House. Heaven help this country.
Thanks for leaving me a comment so I could find your blog; I love it.

This man is frightening!! Not only do I believe that he is a sociopath, but also a Marxist, an anti-semite and sees himself in some kind of god-like vision. He is also surrounded and protected by the “adulators”, as you call them……..many of whom are as cold and calculating as he is.May G-D protect our wonderful country until we can get him out or, at least, make him impotent in 2010.
I really want to elevate the level of dissent in this country. It was so awful for the eight years that Bush was in office. But, that press conference was truly horrible. Yelling out to someone you know before addressing the issue at hand, especially when that issue was the innocent murder of our servicemen. It was stunning.
Got your website from LifeWithMonkeys. You definitely ran with the topic of malignant narcissism! I wouldn’t clinically diagnose anyone with a pathological disorder from afar either (I have a strong background in psych), but it is clear that Obama has some type of complex: sociopathic, narcissistic, or both. Keep on keepin’ on, pup!

Thank you all for your comments, and the kind words. Glad to know that others see him for what he truly is. And isn’t.
Thank you for the link. I have added Conservative Pup to my blogroll. I hope you will consider adding me as either “A Conservative Lesbian” or “Cynthia Yockey” to your blogroll.
It’s wonderful that you are adding the information about the four kinds of enablers to the discussion — I’m going to write a post about it and link you.

Great post…AGAIN! Pup…I had the tv on that day, working around the house, listening but not watching…they said he was going to address the situation at Ft. Hood…normally would have changed the channel, but kept listening…heard him give the shout out…didn’t hear him say anything about it…had to look at the tv and go…what is he doing? It was VERY weird.
My opinion based on his behavior?…he was probably VERY put out that HE even had to deal with this and all of its ensuing implications. (I mean, after all, it’s getting in the way of his agenda.) He didn’t really want to deal with it at all….and that’s besides all the other stuff you said…! He’s a willful unbroken man…wants what he wants when he wants…why else would he be putting the country through soaring deficits to get his agenda through, no matter the cost. A president who LOVES the country and the people would have immediately, upon inauguration, be looking for ways to get spending under control and jobs for the people. But not this one…not gonna happen. The Dems are so close to getting what they have wanted for 100 years…I see them pulling out all the stops…even if they have to add the health care program as an amendment to a bill that has already passed (and I hear that’s been done before). If you watched Beck yesterday you would have heard about all kinds of (surprise) interesting things that were in the stimulus bill that we never heard of. That bill was passed in the dark too…oh, and written by, did I hear, SEIU? Or Andy Stern?

Cynthia,
Thanks for coming by and commenting. Your post on this that I linked to is one of the best I’ve read about this. Thanks for the add to your blogroll, I appreciate it! I’ll be happy to add you too. I’ve read quite a bit at your blog, and you do great work.
Kathy,
Boy, are you right! I hadn’t thought about that, but I’m sure he was angry that it interrupted his plans for the day. He’s a spoiled man-child, on top of everything else. Thanks, as always.
