Mark Steyn: “Obama’s Lazy Tribute To Daniel Pearl”

by Pup on May 22, 2010

Mark Steyn is one of my favorite writers in matters regarding Obama, Democrats, and the radical left.  I like reading him and listening to him when I can because he sees Barack Obama the same way I do.  We are not fooled by a person who has a gift for reading speeches in an inspiring way.

Barack Obama’s remarkable powers of oratory are well known: In support of Chicago’s Olympic bid, he flew into Copenhagen to give a heartwarming speech about himself, and they gave the games to Rio. He flew into Boston to support Martha Coakley’s bid for the U.S. Senate, and Massachusetts voters gave Ted Kennedy’s seat to a Republican. In the first year of his presidency, he gave a gazillion speeches on health care “reform” and drove support for his proposals to basement level, leaving Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to ram it down the throats of the American people through sheer parliamentary muscle.

Like a lot of guys who’ve been told they’re brilliant one time too often, President Obama gets a little lazy, and doesn’t always choose his words with care. And so it was that he came to say a few words about Daniel Pearl, upon signing the “Daniel Pearl Press Freedom Act.”

And his words reminded me of his pathological narcissism which was on full display when he “spoke to the nation” about the Ft. Hood shootings.  Insensitive, completely devoid of any true emotion, he is, once again, chillingly inappropriate.

“Obviously, the loss of Daniel Pearl was one of those moments that captured the world’s imagination because it reminded us of how valuable a free press is.”

Go here to read Steyn’s entire article, he says it better than I ever could.

I am in no way qualified to be in government, but these guys? I thought our elected officials were supposed to have a modicum of wisdom. What an embarrasment to the world Mr president. No wonder people hate us. Who will stand up to these barbarians if the so called greatest nation on earth won’t even speak out? Mr Obama, your words were not of a diplomat for there was no diplomacy needed here. Just TELL THE TRUTH!!! These savages follow a 7th century pedophile warlord and this was an example of brutal murder. Not freedom of the press, blah, blah, blah…. Didn’t you even watch this? How can you so disrespect a human soul like that? C’mon Mr President, surely you know the most basic teachings of Islam? Don’t call it Radical Islam either. This was Islam at it’s very core. True Muslims are commanded to lie, cheat, and kill, kill, kill the unbelievers. I am only a ignorant citizen yet you and the so called advisors around you won’t admit this simple truth? It doesn’t take much of a thinking persons time to recognise this cults complete hatred of all things not Islam and warn your citizens of the danger we face. Why doesn’t the government sworn to protect the people protect us anymore? I can’t believe you think anything can be reasoned with with this group. I don’t mean to venture so far off topic, but Mr President please at least to apologize to the family of Mr Pearl.
I know if my son was brutally murdered I would be rendered completley numb by your insensitive comments.

A Quiet Man,

Thank you for your passionate and on-target comment. It is almost numbing to me to know that for the time being, my family’s (and yours and everybody else’s) safety is in the hands of a bunch of people who are determined to be oblivious and obtuse, and careless at best, devious at worst, with the safekeeping of America.

I’d like to say I’m shocked – but I’m not.
I’d like to give P.BO a pass for being overcome with emotion with Mr. Pearl’s family flanking him – but I won’t.

This man has no heart and no soul. He’s just a robot, a puppet. So the question is – who pulls the strings?

Daniel Pearl was brutally murdered in the equivalent of a snuff film because of who he was, not what he did for a living.

Aside from the other subtexts going on here, at the heart of it is that P.BO doesn’t know that and worse…doesn’t care.

To Muslim clerics,
Here is my journey into discovery:
The problem was that I wasn’t able to admit that Muhammed might indeed have had inspired visions. I was trying to compare Islam with Christianity (or any part of the Bible) and just couldn’t get my mind around why so many people followed Muhammed’s sayings. I found the Koran to be full of carnal lust and earthly philosphy. I soon realized that any further investigation into this “religion” was an utter waste of time and could only harm me spiritually. There may be many false religions but this one just jumped out at me with its badness. People should not forget who Muhammed’s real inspiration might be. Only two choices here: Either it was inspired from the mind of a man or it was provided by Satan the Devil, Opposer of God, Resister of God. Call him what you like but you better believe he is! In no way is your “Allah” similar to the God of the Bible so that puts any Holy inspiration to rest. Didn’t Jesus tell us “by their works ye shall know them.”? I do not want to study the Devil nor will I ever agree with you. That is where I am on this subject .
