Jeb Bush’s Oh-So-Very-Faint Praise For Sarah Palin

by Pup on February 25, 2010

Darn Jeb Bush.  I’ve always liked him, and now he goes and does this.  Insinuating that Sarah Palin isn’t ‘intellectually curious’ enough to occupy the White House was not only unnecessary, but patently false.

What more do we need in a president than a vibrant love for America, a desire to see America strong economically and on national security, and an understanding of the Constitution and the rights and responsibilities of both politicians and citizens?  How refreshing would it be to have as president someone who is grounded in a moral core and has inner courage?

More to the point, Palin is a lot smarter than most give her credit for.  She’s a reader of David Horowitz and Thomas Sowell.  Enough said.

Come on, Jeb, you are better than this.

H/T The Lonely Conservative, thanks.

Perception is reality; many people in this country do think she is lacking in the intelligence department. I live in a very blue area of Virginia, and believe me most people that live in this area think she is dumb. I don’t think someone who is stupid could accomplish what she accomplished by the time the are in their mid 40′s, but people are not going to let this false notion go easily. She also is smart enough to realize this, she has hired someone who is giving her updates or something on the major issues of the day. I don’t think he was saying she is dumb, I think he was just saying that she needs to know major policy inside and out before she does make a run. I find it highly unlikely that she won’t at least make an attempt at the nomination.

No he isn’t.

I love Sarah, but I don’t think she’ll ever see the white house. She’s been tagged a quitter and that she is. The left hate her so. I’m guessing that we would see the same amount of folks vote for anyone on the left just to keep her out of the white house. It’s already happened once. We need to get who we have in the white house out. Just saying. Reid and Pelosi too.

Have a terrific day. :)

You know…it’s just too bad people didn’t say the same things about Obama…who daily is wrecking our country…This is a Saul Alinsky tactic…ridicule and if you say it enough times, people believe it. Jeb is just proving who he really is…a RINO. If he wants to continue these types of attacks, he’s only proving who and what he really is…what’s he afraid of anyway? He must be thinking of a run…that’s why he has to run her down.

Great post Pup. When people bad mouth her in an unflattering way, 1. it smacks of gender racism and 2. it tells me they are secretly lefties. We’ve been hearing this “she’s not smart enough” tirade for how long now? Jeb just picked up the radicals’ talking points, which is wearing thin. My sister at a family dinner said she couldn’t stand her…I asked her why…she didn’t really have a coherent answer…

kathy February 26, 2010 at 1:58 pm

Me again, maybe gender racism is the wrong term…how about gender bashing? Cause I really do think there is some of that going on, Sarah being a former beauty queen and all…

And Obama is “intellectually curious”??? Aside from likely being able to quote Saul Alinsky and Karl Marx forwards and backwards, I’ve NEVER seen or heard anything from this man’s mouth that would suggest he has anything above average intelligence. Just last week, he confessed that when in school, he didn’t always do his math homework. That speaks volumes as to the “Obamanomics” fake math he and his cronies have been using to cook the numbers on unemployment and health care costs. Let’s not forget that he stated during the presidential campaign that he had already trekked across the US to “57 states” and would be going to a few more, and that a few weeks ago, while addressing a group, he pronounced “corps man” as “corpse man” — TWICE . If Palin can be excoriated for a verbal misstep or two, conservatives must be vigilant and keep Obama’s stupid screwups in the forefront… since the liberal media and Obama worshippers will do their darndest to bury them.

Kathy – I ran into something similar some months back while at a family gathering. A 21-year-old college gal, an Obama supporter, was there. I overheard her exclaim, “I really hate Sarah Palin!” to a small group, so I turned and asked her why. Dead silence for a few seconds.

As she stammered and sputtered without providing an answer, I said, “I only ask because HATE is such a strong term. I don’t hate Barack Obama, but I DO HATE his socialist agenda, hate his efforts to micromanage Americans’ lives, hate how dismissive he is to our military, hate how he wants to grow government, hate how he will be raising taxes when he promised he wouldn’t, hate how he is dismantling our Constitution, hate how he wants the government to run our health care when they can’t even get Medicare right. But I don’t HATE him. Why do you HATE Sarah Palin?”

Honestly, the best this young woman could come up with was that Palin had said she could see Russia from her house. I gently pointed out that Palin had never said that, it was Tina Fey from SNL in a comedy skit. Palin had said you can see Russia from Alaska, which is TRUE. And that seemed like a strange thing to hate someone over. After a bit, I said, “Maybe you don’t really hate her, but have heard over and over again that you’re suppose to, could that be it?” And she nodded.

We talked for another 20 or minutes, and I think I may have opened the eyes of this young gal that, despite the brainwashing of the colleges and the liberal Obama media, deep down, she had many conservative values and principles. I don’t know if I was able to get her to “stop hating” Palin, but learning more about The One’s and Palin’s diametrically opposed philosophies and agendas really startled her.

All things in steps… with young voters, we have a fighting chance to get them to evaluate statist vs. conservative values now and educate them about American history and basic economics — we’ve got to slap some sense into them for them to see the Dems’ bogus “hopenchange” rainbow & lollipops rhetoric for what it really is… progressive socialism.

zero was confusing “U.S. States” with “Heinz Varieties.” Easy mistake to make – for a dunce.

kathy February 26, 2010 at 6:48 pm

That’s great work, Classic Film! You’re right…we have to be ready for those opportunities.

kathy February 26, 2010 at 6:52 pm

Comedy Plus…I think it would be great for the conservatives to have a pres. candidate that then exposed for rational people to really see. I don’t know if it will be Sarah, but she sure is the one that makes the left rabid… and the only one at this point…except for Glenn Beck and Rush.

kathy February 26, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Part of my comment disappeared…I meant to say…a pres. candidate that made the left crazy because then they will be exposed. Of course, I always say, if the left is going crazy…then we ARE doing something RIGHT!!!

Conservative Pup February 26, 2010 at 9:35 pm

I really like it when you guys talk among yourselves. :)

Great jobs, Kathy and Classic Film! Talking to the young, calmly and rationally, with facts and not just emotion, that’s the way to do it. I too think that many more people are conservative than realize it.

I don’t know if Palin will run in 2012 or ever, for the WH. If she does, I can’t say at this moment that I would vote for her; it would depend solely on who else was running, and what seemed the best way to take back the country. But, I am a whole-hearted supporter of her thinking and how she verbalizes it, and how she apparently walks the walk, as well as talk the talk. Even if I weren’t a non-objective supporter, I would still think it terribly wrong to focus on her small mistakes and not on those more glaring ones that the Boss (not Springsteen) has made.

Sneed, you may be right. He could have had that label in mind. Goodness knows, he can’t have much else in it. Though I read something not long ago that was interesting. It was a comment somewhere about there being 57 Muslim nations, or something like that. I just thought to myself, ‘hmmmm….’

Thanks ALL of you for the great comments!
