1. Take an already stressed economy, brought down by corrupt businessmen and corrupt, incompetent politicians colluding on sub-prime mortgage games and shenanigans.
2. Spend tons of money that you don’t have on programs you don’t need to “stimulate” the economy.
3. Plan on stealing tons more money from the producers and achievers in your society who earn more than $250,000.
4. Watch helplessly as these producers and achievers actively decide to cut back their own productivity.
5. Lower your threshold for increased taxes to $150,000.
6. Repeat step #4.
7. Lower your threshold again to $100,000.
8. Repeat step #4.
9. Lower your threshold once more to $60,000.
10. Repeat step #4, and now everything is in shambles, and you’ve accomplished what you set out to do. You’ve killed an economy and placed a country which has long been a super power and a beacon of hope to all who dream of living to their full potential, in a weakened and terribly vulnerable position.
I was reading Michelle Malkin this morning, as is my habit. Hers is one of the first blogs I look at each day. She linked to a couple of terrific blogposts which states perfectly what I’ve been feebly trying to say. A big ‘thanks’ to Michelle M. for finding these.
First, please read Dr. Helen’s blogpost regarding the bias of the media (bias?-what bias?) comparing their treatment of a true tax dodger and those who might choose to lower their productivity to avoid the coming higher taxes. The comments are great, too.
Then, please read this great post by Laura at Pursuing Holiness. I’m adding her blog to my blogroll as well.
Finally, between Tea Parties and “Going John Galt”, I think my above rules for killing an economy are looking pretty real.
This is going to be interesting.

Did you come up with these all by your lil ole self? These are great! Great post, Pup. Now I have to check out those links….
Yea, I made those up, but they seem pretty obvious. And can’t you just imagine them lowering that threshold?
The links are great. And thanks, Kathy.
Yes, lowering the threshold is exactly what’s coming. As usual, Pup, you’re such a genius!!!
Well, it’s very kind of you to say so, but I assure you, I’m not a genius! But thanks for the comment, and I’m so glad we are in this together.
Me too! Me too! (Say hi to the pup for me)
