A dear friend emailed me this, and I can’t thank him enough. Expressing my own thoughts and belief far better than I ever could, this touched my heart. A life-long dog lover of the nth degree, and a believer in God with a life-long friendship with Him, I was happy to see that I’m not the only one who has noticed that ‘dog’ is ‘God’ spelled backwards. A mirror image, the love of a dog the reflection of God’s love for us.
Wendy Francisco is the creator of the song and the animation. (Yes, her husband is Don Francisco, well-known Christian musician.) Here, she tells the story of how the song came to her:
“The inspiration for the song and video came from my dog, Caspian. I had to leave one day and I put him into his big corral (he’s a big dog) and he gave me a look… it said, “I would rather be with you all day.” It struck me that dogs who live in packs seldom leave each other. My horses never leave each other either. If you take one horse away from it’s group of friends, they will all cry and cry. Many animals stay together always. People aren’t like that. We have 9 to 5s and school and all sorts of activities that take us away from each other.
“Then I thought that there are some ways in which my dog reflects God – after all, my dog was designed by God and God is reflected in everything he made. God would love to be in constant communication with me. He would love to be a part of everything I do. The story of the prodigal tells of a son who leaves and squanders everything his dad gave to him. But when he comes back in failure and exhaustion, the father is so thrilled to have him back that he throws a huge party for him. Every time somebody decides to get to know God, the Bible says there is a big party in heaven. If I leave for 5 minutes and then come back, my dog throws himself into the air with excitement. That is an amazing response. My dog loves me with his full capacity to love, and I can’t match his devotion. God loves me beyond what I can understand too. I am loved from both sides… from up and down.. and I can’t match it from either side.”
I invite you to visit the GoD and DoG website. I challenge you to watch another video posted there about a young boy named Cole, who has cerebral palsy, and his service dog Ilia, without needing a kleenex.
I hope you enjoy “GoD and DoG” as much as I did.

Oh Pup, THIS is so cute…thanks for sharing it!
Such a great video. I love dogs too, and God of course. God sent us doggies to cheer us up in this world. Love your blog too.
Thanks for posting this.
Thanks Kathy, glad you liked it. It’s very special to me, I’m so glad my friend sent it.
And hello Bunni! So glad to have you come by. Always great to meet another dog lover, especially when that dog lover is a liberty lover also. I visited your blog, and enjoyed it; I’ll be back when I have more time.
Thank you both for the comments, appreciate it!
Hi,
Love your blog and love dogs. And in fact it has often occurred to me that it’s probably no coincidence that Dog is God spelt backwards.
I started my dating site for dog lovers when my first dog Monty (black lab) died at just 4yo and at that point realied how deep my love for him was and how important it is for dog lovers to share their love of dogs becasue only dog lovers understand what it’s like to love a dog.
Love and light.
