Go The Distance

by Pup on November 8, 2009

Last night the House of Representatives voted 220-215 to pass the Democrat’s health care bill.  Many of us followed each step of the process, particularly as the evening wore on.  I was so proud of numerous GOP Congressmen and Congresswomen, as they stood and used their precious minutes of time to speak up for liberty and the Constitutional principles our country was founded on.

Michelle Malkin covered the entire ordeal and has excellent posts on her site.

Today, disappointed and concerned as I am for the continuation of America as we know it, I realize that this is a fight we must not quit.  We can’t become disillusioned, disheartened, and dispirited.  We absolutely and unreservedly must not cease our efforts to save our Republic from the emboldened attacks from within from those who worship and value only power.  This was never about “providing health care” to all, it is purely and simply a massive power grab.

“Medicine is the keystone of the arch of Socialism.” Vladimir Lenin said that, and the Leftists in power know that quote and believe it.  They have acted on it, and are half-way to their goal.

Men and women from every state in our nation bravely serve each and every one of us wearing the uniforms of our armed forces.  They are risking their lives all over the world, in Iraq, Afghanistan, and sadly, even in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Killeen, Texas.

They do not quit.

They do not give up.

They do not stop protecting this country.

And so, for their sakes, we can’t either.  They are doing their jobs where they are, and they are counting on us to do ours here.  They can’t go to Tea Parties, they can’t call their representatives, they can’t go to Washington to make their voices heard.

We can, and we must.  We will continue all that we have been doing, and not only that, we’ll triple our efforts.  Our soldiers are doing their part, and it’s up to us to do ours.  We cannot let them down.  They have never let us down.

So, my dear gentle patriot readers, go the distance.  Whatever it takes, we will fight for our country here, and make our stand here, for the sake of those who stand and fight for us in desperately dangerous places.

As long as it takes, as far as it takes us, we will stand up, speak out, vote, write, run for office, get involved on a local level–whatever we can.  We will pay attention and we will hold those who seek to destroy America accountable.

We will remember and write down for all to see the names of the 220 who voted against liberty and the Constitution on that Saturday night in November of 2009.  They will forever be remembered as enemies of freedom.

Fighting for our freedom here at home is our best way to support our troops.

And we will go the distance for them.

All well and good but how nice for the republicans to find the principles and constitutional beliefs they discarded entirely while little george was at the helm. There is NO hope for the dc cluster plus. The meaningful fight must be at the state level to assert the Tenth Amendment, nullify the plethora of unconstitutional laws disgorged by the creature and, in the final analysis, secede. We are past the tipping point.

Sneed, I share your lack of confidence in the “dc cluster plus.” While I was glad that they all voted NO on this bill, I have no illusions that they have ALL suddenly come to a realization that their country is under attack. I suspect it’s primarily, at least for most of them, all about getting re-elected. I do think there might possibly be a handful who are genuine patriots. I’d like to think so, anyway.

I’m all for us getting busy at the state level, for that is, for now, where the real power lies. States can assert the 10th, refuse federal monies, perhaps even withhold monies that the Fed demands from them. But, as you point out, it will take strong and wise leaders on the state level, and many of them.

Thanks for your comment, as always.

Great post, Pup. I posted a note to the troops on some website that stated some of these very same thoughts. Great minds thinking alike!

…And Sneed is right…the states need to take a stand now for nullification…and I guess we the people have to get on their backs and demand it.

Thanks Kathy,

I heard a man speaking yesterday on a radio program about the 10th amendment, and how important it is, especially right now. I’m going to try to remember his name, and find his website, and will post about it if I do. The states are going to be critical; I can’t vote for Pelosi’s opponent, so it will be up to her constituents to vote her out, and so the level of conservative involvement at the local levels is going to be the most important thing for all of us.

Pelosi’s state is so broke now, they have resorted to stealing 10% more from their workers’ paychecks. She is not helping them. We need state nullification and if need be, remove their funding by amending the Constitution.
