I love the Olympics. In 1968 ABC televised the Winter games live and in color for the first time ever, and I was 16. I will never forget the image of Peggy Fleming gliding over the ice.
So many wonderful, poignant, tearful, proud moments are from Olympic games. I’m going to be sharing some of my personal favorites over the next couple of weeks.
One thing is certain, at least for me: I miss Jim McKay and his commentary.
Here’s one of my all-time favorite pieces of Olympic history. In 1988 the Winter Games were in Calgary, and a 16 yr-old Midori Ito from Japan gave possibly the performance of her life. Hope you enjoy it.
