Do Your Homework Before Voting Next Time

Second round of the French presidential electi...

Ok, I’ve just got to say this.

I am angry at people who voted for Obama.  Some of my friends and family voted for him, people with intelligence and good hearts,  normally observant and thoughtful people.  But I’m frustrated with them because they didn’t do their homework when it came time to select a presidential candidate.

As American citizens, we have rights and responsibilities.  Many forget all about the responsibilities part of that phrase.  We have a duty to vote, and accompanying that duty is the obligation to educate ourselves so that we will choose wisely.

It is our duty as Americans to know what and whom we are voting for.

My dear ones, and many of yours too I suspect, fell down on their responsibilities.  They had preconceived notions–created by a media with a clear liberal bias–about the former president and his administration, and knew only that they “wanted a change.” They purposely refused to listen to all the facts about Obama.  These facts were available to all; his associations with self-avowed Marxists and Communists; with domestic terrorists and anarchists; with people who stood and publicly proclaimed their hatred of America–none of this was secret information.

It was public knowledge that his voting record was sparse for one thing, and the most liberal in the senate, both the Illinois and the US Senates.  When he wasn’t voting “present.”

Neither was it a secret that he admired Saul Alinsky and studied his writings, incorporating Alinsky’s tactics in his own community organizing “work.”

Really, nothing that is going on right now is a surprise to those of us who were paying attention and doing our duty as citizens.  We watched all different news reports about Obama.  We listened to him speak.  We read his own books, and other books written about him.  We knew our country’s history well enough to know that the far left has been trying to install socialism in this country for almost a century, and that it isn’t necessary to wear a tin-foil hat if you know this.  In fact, tin-foil hats go with those blinders that some choose to wear.

So, I’m pretty mad at some people right now.  No, not the kind of mad that they will ever realize.  But it quietly resides down inside, where I try to express it by writing, and by talking with other responsible American citizens, who did do their homework.

I believe that our country will survive this, and will be stronger for it.  For a while, more will be vigilant, and will work harder to inform themselves, to “study” for elections, and to watch what Congress does.

Though it’s harsh of me, I really hope that those who voted for Obama and contributed to this slow-motion coup on our freedoms, get to experience first-hand the results of their own lack of responsible citizenship.  Government-controlled healthcare, loss of choice, higher taxes and costs of the “insurance”–they will experience these just as the rest of us will.

The difference is they asked for it.  I didn’t.  And that’s the source of my anger at them.  Their dereliction of duty will affect all of us.

Do you feel the same way about me because I considered McCain a clueless hack, who stood for nothing, so voted Libertarian? I too contributed to zero’s election.

I didn’t vote for him. I did see what you saw. It started with Reverend Wright and went downhill from there. Lots of folks thought they are going to get bailed out of a lot of things. Not happening is it? The taxes is coming and it’s going to be a huge amount too. There can’t be any other way to pay for all the spending. The folks that live on entitlements aren’t going to get what they wanted either. The love affair will end as it always does.

There were some good candidates to choose from, unfortunately they didn’t make it to the final round. How sad.

Have a terrific day. :)

I understand how you feel. The problem is the general population feeds on the pap spoonfed to them by the media. They BELIEVE what they are told because it is too hard to go find out for themselves. They’d rather tune into the evening news, accept that everything said is gospel truth, then move onto the next sitcom that will be cancelled after 4 episodes.

Sneed,

No. I don’t think the same thing about you or anyone else who paid attention and voted their conscience. I’m not angry at the people who voted for Obama KNOWING what he is because they wanted a socialist for a president. I’m sorry they want that, but they didn’t vote out of purposeful ignorance of the facts.

You are perhaps more principled than I. I did not like McCain either, very much. He was, and is, much too left-leaning and ‘agreeable’ to those across the aisle for me. I voted in the primary for Thompson. So, maybe my vote in the primary should have gone to Romney, but I wanted Thompson. I unenthusiastically voted for McCain, although his choice of Palin for a running mate helped a lot.

I do not begrudge anyone their vote and how they spent it, as long as it is, for them, an informed choice. I know that there will always be differences of opinions, that’s a given. I had hoped to make clear in my post that the ones I am “angry” with are the ones who are smart enough to know better, and have hearts that I know don’t want socialism, but voted out of emotion and chose not to do their own vetting, instead relying on traditional dinosaur media and their so-called vetting.

Well put, CP.

Conservative Pup December 21, 2009 at 7:43 pm

Kris,

Very well-put. It’s a laziness that I find repugnant. We live in the greatest country in the world, and we have a responsibility to keep it that way; ALL of us have that duty. I don’t like slackers, and there were several million of them in 2008.

C+, agree with you totally. The thing that people don’t think about when they are envisioning getting stuff “free” from the government is that it may be “free” but it won’t be the “model” they really want. Like if the government were to say they’re going to give all of us a car, I can guarantee you it wouldn’t be the car I want. I already have the car I want, and I paid for it. Many years ago. It will be the same with health care. Right now, all these people are picturing getting everything they need, every test and every medicine they might need for any disease or condition. It will not be like that. Medicare isn’t like that now, there are some things they won’t cover even if your doctor thinks you need it. People are in for a very rude awakening.

Thanks all of you.

Great post. I don’t have many people that I am close to that voted for Obama.

I feel the same way, if you actually wanted a far left socialist; then thier is nothing that can be done about that.

Today, I was talking to an acquatiance about the healthcare bill and someone who was standing there actually said “What Healthcare Bill?’. It took every ounce of self restaint that I could muster not to smack her. What cave has she been living in? One sixth of our economy is being affected and she doesn’t know what we are talking about? Very sad.

Thanks, Sneed.

Conservative Pup December 22, 2009 at 7:13 am

Just a Conservative Girl,

How can anyone not know about the healthcare bill? But I know what you mean, I know many people who have not heard a word about the leaked emails about global warming. But the healthcare bill–they must not ever read or listen to ANY news whatsoever. So irresponsible.

Thanks for the comment.

I knew what Obama stood for or anyone who held his views and look what we got. The Democrooks have just sold America down the river with this boondoggle of a health care bill. Oh well there’s always next year, I hope it’s better, Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy Newe Year.

Pup, I’m angry at them folks, too. But I’m not as diplomatic as you…everyone I know that helped turn our bus down that wrong-way street gets flames shot outta my eyeballs at ‘em.

Merry Christmas, y’all

Hi Pup, yes the hopey changey crowd had stars in their eyes…and how could a guy lose with the media covering up his past associations..that’s IF you listen to the lamestream media as they are now called. :=) BUT on the flip side, people are waking up, they are not taking their freedom for granted any more now that it’s threatened, there are more patriots out there expressing themselves more than ever. That can’t be bad….the only thing is, I don’t know how far this will go. O has done all this damage in the first year…makes me not want to watch the second year….
