Did You Hear That?

by Pup on March 21, 2010

What was that?

Did you hear something?

It sounded like….it sounded like….Oh, no.  No.  NO!

It sounded like the fall of a republic.

It was the fall of a republic.  Our republic.  Oh my God.

Wait…do you see…what is that?

Oh My God. Do you see that?

Look!  Millions and millions of people leaped forward to catch the republic.  LOOK!  They’re all holding her up!

She didn’t fall!  Then, what was that sound?

There it is again! It sounds like…it’s a roar!

It’s a roar from all those people holding up the republic, and they’re helping to right her.

They are angry and sound like a combination of grizzly and lion.  That kind of roar.  And they’re singing, they’re singing “God Bless America” and it’s SO LOUD.

So loud.

The people are sad, and many are crying, but they also look hopeful, and they look strong and determined.  And they’re standing on the firm unshakable foundation of the Constitution of the United States.

This is not the end of the “shining city upon a hill.”  Not yet.

America is under wrong-headed and evil guidance, but not for long.

She’ll be alright.

I pray, she’ll be alright.

Thank you, I do hear it!

Thank you Paula, I’m so glad!

Yes, we sang God Bless America and the National Anthem after the vote was announced to us. We also knelt and prayed. I am glad that I chose to be around fellow patriots when this sad, sad moment in our history happened.

I am watching some of the coverage now, as we couldn’t hear anything while we down at the Capitol.

Thanks for standing up. We need to stand together now more than ever.

I am so saddened and fear the fight we fought will be for not. Can we fight hard enough. So, after the tears are shed, I will do as your blog said. Pray on my knees and fight on my feet. This cannot stand.

We have not yet begun to fight. Let the constitutional challenges begin, state by state. Obama’s lasting legacy will be in creating a Republican juggernaut for the next 30 years, and let’s make it happen right quick.

She’ll be just fine. There will be new blood come November. She’ll be just fine. :)

Dennis Gartman, a political agnostic from what I can tell, on the hc outrage:

The Left shall take this as a great victory here in the US. It is not. It is a devastating loss of personal sovereignty; it is a further, massive intrusion into the daily lives of Americans; it is a series of massive new tax increases; it is an increase in the size of government beyond anything the Founding Fathers had envisioned… it is simply very bad law. Interestingly we would image that less than 10 members of the House and few Senators have read the legislation they’ve passed. We shall find out over the next several weeks and months just how intrusive and just how anti-free market this new health care legislation is. This we think is a very sad day for America. A very sad day.

EFFICIENCY OF GOVERNMENT………………. Think of it this way: A clunker that travels 12,000 miles a year at 15 mpg uses 800 gallons of gas a year. A vehicle that travels 12,000 miles a year at 25 mpg uses 480 gallons a year. So, the average Cash for Clunkers transaction will reduce US gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year. They claim 700,000 vehicles so that’s 224 million gallons saved per year. That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil. 5 million barrels is about 5 hours worth of US consumption. More importantly, 5 million barrels of oil at $70 per barrel costs about $350 million dollars. So, the government paid $3 Billion of our tax dollars to save $350 million. We spent $8.57 for every dollar we saved. I’m pretty sure they will do a great job with our health care, though.

[A letter to him from a physician friend]
Dennis, It is Sunday and it looks like Obama, Pelosi and Reid have succeeded in passing their health care plan which will destroy every person, family and business in Our country. In the process they have shredded The Constitution and Our democratic republic.

Thank you for all that you have done in informing the public and allowing my voice and my information to be heard. I believe my perspective as a “grunt” on the front line of health care delivery and 29 years experience in doing so matters. By networking my information, you allowed me to share my insight with the American public. The democrats and progressives believe the war has been won…..wrong….they might have won the battle but the War has just begun.

In the next several weeks I will be sending out an e-mail announcing that I will be leaving the medical delivery profession. My wife and daughters support my decision. The legislation authored by Obama, Pelosi and Reid is a violation of The Hippocratic Oath I took 29 years ago…..”Do No Harm”. The core of their legislation is to deny and ration care…..the most inhumane and unethical means of cutting costs. I have dedicated my life….day and night to my patients for the past 29 years…..I have attempted to add to the oath through my research and published studies which have focused on Prevention…..”Preventing Harm”. Their legislation puts me in the position of harming the very people I have been helping for the past 29 years.

In 1920, the federal government instituted legislation that took my great grandfather’s business away from him, he owned a brewery in Chicago. He died a broken and destroyed man within a month of that event Ninety years later the federal government [has passed] a law that will take away my beloved profession of health care delivery. I will continue to fight and will not meet the same fate as my great grandfather. If I can be further service to you please call on me.

Bought a new gun on Saturday to add to our growing arsenal. Went shooting yesterday – tactical, home defense kind of shooting. Close quarters, drills, etc…

We live in a pretty quiet, rural area. Lots of farms and open spaces, everything built on a minimum of one acre. Not a showy town by any means. We still have an annual Maple Festival to honor those in our community who produce maple syrup the old fashioned way – by hand.

And yet my intuition – which fires at 100% most of the time – is telling me that our blissful experience with security will be coming to an end.

We aren’t fearful – we are just being smart & preparing ourselves.

As for those asshats in Congress I think Boehner said it best when he said this:

“Shame on us. Shame on this body. Shame on each and every one of you who substitutes your will and your desires above those of your fellow countrymen.”

November 2010 is coming for them. And then the Republic will right itself, because I suspect the people shouldering the burden right now are going to tire of it – quickly.

This shameful atrocity against the American people will have dire consequences. The Democrats are like partying teens, drunk with power and the keys to Daddy’s care… but not for long.

It was either Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, or another Team Obama crony who said last year that the American people have a short memory… I interpreted that to mean that Democrats believe they can do whatever they please now, attack conservatives and those who aren’t in lockstep with BHO’s agenda, and America will forgive and/or forget by November. HA! Even registered Democrats are disgusted by what has happened to the integrity of our federal government in the last few weeks.

To the “temporary stewards of our Constitution”… those who voted for tyranny and ignored the desires of the majority of their constituents will find themselves up for unemployment pretty darn soon.

Oops… “Daddy’s CAR” not “Daddy’s CARE.” Typo, my bad.

“to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government,

I don’t believe we’re there yet, but marching double quick in that direction.

Sneed Hearn March 26, 2010 at 8:02 am

JHA III: Both parties pay nothing but lip service to the Constitution, when they even bother to do that. If we’re not there now what does it take to get us there?

Personally, I think we have been there for years but the loathed feds have only recently been taking out ads to that effect. For that they should be thanked. The road ahead is extremely rocky and the destination uncertain but still to be preferred to the road we’re on now. At least that’s how I see it.
