From FoxNews.com:
RICHMOND, Va. — A 90-year-old Medal of Honor recipient can keep his 21-foot flagpole in his front yard after a homeowner’s association dropped its request to remove it, a spokesman for Democratic Virginia Sen. Mark Warner said Tuesday.
Well, thank God. A win for our side. How ridiculous that this was ever even an issue.
I’m happy for retired Col. Barfoot, and just in case you hadn’t heard of this story before now, here’s an accounting of it up to this past Friday, the day that the supposed deadline was for removal of the flagpole. One has to wonder about the individuals who decided to intentionally step in such a big cow patty.
They stepped in it without thinking. Without thinking about whom they were dealing with, just exercising their “power.” Ahh, power. What a divine and heady drug. To tell a war hero, the kind they make movies about, that he can’t fly his flag except in one particular fashion–how delightfully satisfying that must be.
Not for long. I’m betting they are all now thinking to themselves, ‘what was I thinking?’
Not because they’ve seen the light, but because they got caught. Exposed to all the country as the dimwits they are. No one took their side.
Hooray for Col Barfoot. Amazing that he fought such a ferocious battle for his country, his life, and the lives of his brothers-in-arms 64 years ago that he was awarded the Medal of Honor, and then had to fight another ferocious battle in his own country, in his own neighborhood, to be allowed to fly the flag and honor it as he wished.
You would have thought that he wanted to keep pigs in his front yard.
I’m also betting that they’ll spend the next several days weeks scraping that cow dung off their shoes.

The world is a crazy place. I think it will calm down shortly. I can already see the signs of this craziness being rejected. I just keep hoping and praying it continues.
Have a terrific day.
