Barbara Boxer’s Dress Code For Townhall Attendees….

by Pup on August 11, 2009

This has to win the grand prize for the “what was she/he thinking” awards show.

I mean, what in the world was she thinking?

“People storming these townhall meetings….,” she says.  Storming?  I had not seen any storming; I saw people with questions, who became angry when their questions were not answered, or were answered with an outrageously illogical statement.  I saw people interrupt the speaker when said speaker made a ridiculous claim.

“….I was confronted by the same type of people…,” she says.  What type is she talking about?  People angry with her and her co-conspirators for thinking we are not able to make decisions for ourselves, therefore meaning that the government should make them for us?

“I finally said, ‘your hero Ronald Reagan is from California, you should show a little respect.  And then they quieted down….,” she claims.  Yes, Reagan was from California.  So is Charles Manson.

Back to the “well-dressed” comment.  I truly can’t imagine what she thinks the rest of the country, outside of her little world, is like.  Does she think that we conservatives don’t own any nice clothes?  Does she think we don’t dress up to “go to town?”  What does she think we should wear?

I called her office the day after I first heard of this remark.  I asked the young man answering her phone what she meant by this.  To my great surprise (not) he didn’t have an answer.  He said that he had not heard that comment, and he was sure she was just focusing on the “organized mobs sent in to disrupt the meetings.”  I told him that while I hadn’t been to any meetings yet, I knew people who had been, and I knew for a fact that they weren’t organized by anyone.  I asked him again what could she possibly have meant about the well-dressed comment.  I asked him if he thought that she believed that anyone who might be against this bill would dress a certain way.  He was polite, but had no answer.  I asked him to please ask Sen. Boxer what she meant by that, and that I would call back in a few days for her reply.

I’m calling back tomorrow.

Well what do you expect her to do? Tell the truth? Admit they don’t even have a real plan or any idea how any plan would be financed? Say “trust us, we certainly know better than you?” That last would be the actual truth to those of her ilk but they know better than to out and admit it: “There are those who support us and a bunch of morons, albeit well dressed.” Yeah, that would be effective.
