I’m not a political “groupie.” I don’t as a rule fawn and gush over politicians, as I know that they are merely human, same as me and you. They make mistakes in their personal lives, mistakes in judgement on legislative issues, or hold a different set of values and standards for themselves than I do.
Or in some cases, no set of values or standards.
I can think of only three times in my life--until yesterday-- that the words of a politician gave me chills and a certain knowledge that I was hearing an historic moment. The first was when President Reagan declared “Mr. Gorbechav, tear down this wall!” I was a liberal in those days, but his words still resonated with me.
The second time a politician spoke and gave me chills and the certain clear knowledge that I had been wrong about him, it was another president, and he spoke from the back of a flatbed truck through a bullhorn, and told me that “the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.”
On an August morning in 2008 John McCain introduced us to his chosen running mate, and I heard Sarah Palin speak for the first time. For the third time in my life, I was mesmerized by a politician and thrilled to hear her say things I had been so hungry to hear.
Now, a man named Allen West is running for Congress in Florida’s 22nd district. Listening to him brings back that rare but unforgettable feeling, that I am hearing someone who is going to be meaningful to this country.
I’ll be following his journey to win a seat in Congress in 2010, representing the people living in District 22 in Florida, currently represented by Democrat Ron Klein.
Lieutenant Colonel Allen West (US Army, Retired) is a hero, an experienced military veteran, an officer and a gentleman, a conservative in the truest sense of the word. He speaks of socialism, power grabs, and Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, and it’s obvious that he’s well-read and well-aware of what is really going on right now in our country.

Remember the name. Allen West. He’s one to watch.

This man says it best. Stand up, get off your backside, and take responsibility for your actions. I hopr he wins, we need more people like him in Congress.
This man is truly fearless. I have the pleasure of living in South Florida and have seen him in person. What you see is what you get. I also love the fact that he doesn’t “coddle” his supporters. Netboyrick, thanks for coming by and sharing that. I’m so glad to hear from you, who have seen him in person, and can affirm that he is “the real deal.” I too like that he tells us that WE have to get up off our b**ts and get to work. Nothing worth doing is work-free. With him, and hopefully several more like him in Congress, we can begin to get this country back on the path she’s meant to be on.
