Al Gore’s Product Recall

Al Gore, the inventor of the highly successful and lavishly profitable AGW, aka Anthropogenic Global Warming, may have to issue a recall of his product.

Alas, some ne’er-do-wells (or, as I like to call them, sensible smart people) hacked into the computer at the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (CRU) and obtained some confidential files, which they promptly released via the internet.  The CRU, the primary factory manufacturing Gore’s imaginative merchandise, is home to some of the most prominent scientists pushing AGW, or, ‘man-made global warming.’

Or, as I like to call it, “man-made global hysteria.”  (And why do I always hear that calliope song when I hear about this stuff? You know, the one they play at the circus when the clowns come in?)

The ‘illegally-obtained’ files (how else would they have ever come to light?) contain documents and emails between the scientists discussing various ways to hide facts that seem to show that the globe isn’t warming like they’d like for it to.  They also talk about what they’d like to do to the skeptics, as they call other scientists who aren’t buying what they’re selling.

From the Wall Street Journal“Yet even a partial review of the emails is highly illuminating. In them, scientists appear to urge each other to present a “unified” view on the theory of man-made climate change while discussing the importance of the “common cause”; to advise each other on how to smooth over data so as not to compromise the favored hypothesis; to discuss ways to keep opposing views out of leading journals; and to give tips on how to “hide the decline” of temperature in certain inconvenient data.”

Just a couple of samples to whet your appetite.

“…If they ever hear there is a Freedom of Information Act now in the UK, I think I’ll delete the file rather than send to anyone.” This was sent from CRU director Phil Jones to another researcher.

This from Kevin Trenberth to Michael Mann, with Phil Jones cc’d:  “The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.”

Regarding the above email, Hot Air asks, “Do scientists use data to test theories, or do they use theories to test data? Scientists will claim the former, but here we have scientists who cling to the theory so tightly that they reject the data.  That’s not science; it’s religious belief.”

George Monbiot, a UK activist and long-time proponent of man-made global warming, said in his blog, “It’s no use pretending that this isn’t a major blow. The emails extracted by a hacker from the climatic research unit at the University of East Anglia could scarcely be more damaging. I am now convinced that they are genuine, and I’m dismayed and deeply shaken by them.”

And finally, words I’ve longed to see, from CBS News“….the U.S. Congress may probe whether prominent scientists who are advocates of global warming theories misrepresented the truth about climate change.”

AGW has made Al Gore very very wealthy.  My own skepticism, present from the get-go, stems from, aside from the hard facts of climatology, seeing a man who tells me I shouldn’t drive my SUV while he jets around all over the world in his own private jet, burning up more fuel than my SUV will ever use.  Maybe if he didn’t live in a house the size of a city block which uses more energy in a month than the average American household uses in a year, I might have listened to him with an open mind.

But I rarely am able to give the benefit of the doubt to the one who tells me to do as he says, not as he does.  If the planet is truly in mortal danger from our man-made-ness, then Al Gore with his extravagant use of energy is one of the biggest dangers to us all.

On the other hand, if he has just found a new job after being vice-president and has discovered that he’s a huge success at sales, he’s still one of the biggest dangers to us all.

Policies and legislation are being considered world-wide that will have devastating effects on individuals, small businesses, entire economies, and the way of life as we know it.  Policies and legislation based solely on Al Gore’s product, which many have bought believing it is the “real thing” and many others have invested in knowing that it’s a ’surefire’ exponential return on the money.  This second group knows that for every Brooklyn Bridge they sell, there will be hundreds of the former group that will buy it.

I like to call the first group “gullible liberals” and the second group “politicians.”

Thank God for that hacker. Now we can see what these global-warming scientists really think and believe and talk about, and find that it’s pretty much what most of us already thought.

I hope this means that we can go back to using the good kind of light bulbs.

This swindle has always been junk science. It will be interesting to see whether either the MSM or the leftists in control of the dc supercluster will pay ANY attention to an actual confirmation that it’s a swindle. My bet is no; they will yap around it since they KNOW what is right and mere facts are just a distraction. Any takers?

Not me, Sneed. That’s one reason I wanted to write about it; not that I have that many readers, but I know a few of my liberal friends and family stop by from time to time, and I figured they wouldn’t hear about it otherwise.

Yes, thank goodness, we have people in DC who have only our best interests at heart, and since we are all too infantile and stupid to make our own decisions, they can make all the choices for us.

It is hard to keep believing everything about global warming when the people who are sounding the alarms are in positions to make boatloads of money.

The fact that Al Gore doesn’t walk the walk when it comes to his global footprint is just one more reason to doubt that even he believes it.

I believe in keeping the envirnoment clean. But I don’t think we should change the world wide ecomony while we still have all these doubts.

Have a happy turkey day.

This is ALL about money. And governments looking for new streams of revenue think they have hit the jackpot. Lots of people have invested lots of money into this in anticipation of making a killing. It sure would be too bad for them if the sane part of the world doesn’t buy. But lots of people make bad investments, so I don’t feel sorry for them.
