ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN Abandon All Pretense Of Journalism

by Conservative Pup on September 8, 2009

It’s become increasingly clear that ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, The New York Times, and countless lesser players have abandoned any pretense of reporting news.  Perhaps they have become strictly opinion media without making a declaration of that to their long-time viewers and readers.  My guess is that they have decided that the public relations business pays better than reporting news, and their biggest client is the Democratic Party.

Millions of us have known for months, even years, that there is a clear and irrefutable bias in MSM toward liberal progressive ideas and the politicians who hold those ideas, ideas which to many of us have a decidedly socialistic bent.  Our countrymen and women who rely on these outlets for their information and share those liberal and progressive ideas see no bias, and think that those of us who do are nuts.  Crazy.  Extremists.  Stupid.

We all know the frustration of having friends and family members rely solely on CNN, or NBC, or Katy Couric to keep them abreast of all that is going on in the country and in the world.  They trust without question what they hear come out of Brian Williams’ mouth to be true.  And, it may be.

But it may not be the whole truth.  Not reporting on situations and events, ignoring them entirely as if they aren’t happening, is just as substandard and deplorable as presenting imprecise and distorted reports.

We can decry it, we can call for it to stop, we can denounce it over and over, but that won’t change them.  No, it will be up to their bottom line to do that.  Once the PR business for their client begins to lose its profit and lustre, perhaps these former news outlets will be purchased by a person or persons who still believe in the nobility of the profession, who will then find and hire real reporters with a passion for seeking and sharing truth to the American people.

Luckily, we do have actual journalists working hard right now.  Most of these are not household names but the work they do is tremendous, and represents the best in true journalism.  The folks at CNS, Matt Drudge at Drudge Report, Real Clear Politics, and Townhall are some of the most reliable sources of information that a) is true, and b) is information one might not hear or read at NBC or the others.  Andrew Breitbart, of Breitbart.com, is another one of my personal favorites, and my thoughts here were inspired by his excellent piece in the Washington Times, calling for MSM to be held accountable for the great disservice they are doing to the citizens of this country.

To all the honest and honorable professional journalists and to all the citizen journalists out there, keep up the bold and fearless work you’re doing.  Audacious warriors protecting freedom and liberty with pens and keyboards, I thank you.

I thank the ones that are protecting our freedom and liberty with pens and keyboards too. There just seem to be so few in a sea of Kool-Aid drinkers.

Have a terrific day. :)

Excellent post… the battle isn’t over, and not all journalists are shills. Even a handful of leftwing media are starting to see the light and have stopped drinking the Obama Kool-aid. Jake Tapper at ABC News is getting more uppity with Robert Gates and more critical in his political pieces. It’s a good sign that sanity will indeed prevail.

And thank YOU, Pup, for your continued vigilance…you and your keyboard. Well done.

Thank you all for your remarks. Appreciate that. I try to keep up with what Tapper is saying, as I too believe that he is one of the few who is more fair and less starry-eyed. I have hopes for him.

All of you are to be commended too, for the most excellent work you are doing. Bravo to all of us!

Some mornning in the future, we will wake up and Jake will be hired by Fox News! Just like John Stossel. Jake does seem to be annoyed by conservative tweets though, but I don’t know what they’re saying to him. They could be the real kooks. Can media be sued for not doing their job?

It is clearer than ever before that journalism is dead in America except for Fox News. No reporting on Acorn or the Angry mobsters that showed up in Washington D.C.?
Liberalism is absolutely a mental disorder!
