I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I did, and admittedly, took some time off from here. Too much cooking, baking, family visits, and just being lazy and enjoying one of the rare white Christmases for our part of the country to do much of anything else. It was wonderful.
Now, back to work. Though I don’t consider myself a Pollyanna type, I will say that I have a strong feeling that this year will mark the return and rise of conservative principles and those who exemplify them. I am not whistling in the dark when I say that I am eagerly awaiting the congressional races.
We have some great potential candidates that I’m just beginning to hear about. I look forward to learning about many more as the weeks go by. I plan to talk about them here, and as always, will appreciate your input on them and others you want people to know about.
I also plan to focus some of these pages on my state’s races. As several of you have pointed out in past comments on various posts, Washington D.C. may be lost to us, or at least so far gone as to require too long of a recovery stage, and that changing things on more local levels is the place to start. I’m intrigued by the thought of the states rising up and telling the feds, “NO!”
If we can’t change Washington, we can make them as irrelevant as possible.
For this to happen, we need to monitor our individual areas, and work for the true conservatives brave enough to put themselves and their families through the rigors of a campaign, exposing themselves to almost-certain personal attacks, slander, and ridicule.
For that is how the Democratic Party of the 21st century operates. They are no longer merely one of two political parties. They have become the “party of government.” They stand for nothing, they value nothing, they have no moral core. They will do, say, write, and pay anything to get the one thing they want, power.
P-O-W-E-R. That is all the Democrats seek. Power over all of us, over our small and large choices. Or, more accurately, our dwindling choices. When someone wants to control what kind of light bulb I can use in my own house, that is way too much nose under my tent.
So, this is the year we begin in earnest to fight back. We can, and will take this country away from the adolescent thugs, criminals, liars, and cheats, and the immature and narcissistic man-child who theoretically leads them.
As for the GOP, if they refuse to support true conservatives in these races, opting instead for moderates to attract voters from the other side, I will be done with them as well.
In the Chinese world, 2010 is the year of the tiger. I will fight like a tiger to continue this grand experiment in liberty and freedom, and I know that I won’t be fighting alone.

I live in California and talk about liberal. Horribly so. Well, we do have that whack job Pelosi here. I’m looking forward to the upcoming elections too. I think we will see some real change come November. The thing that scares me is how much more damage can the current administration do before then?
Have a terrific day.

Yes, the states must step up…but they too are more dependent on Washington, DC than should be, and I’m sure that’s by design. Where is state nullification? It’s time to put the Feds on notice.

Yeah, perhaps it will be the year of the Tiger- couldn’t be much worse than last year for him, anyway!
LOL
Year of the Tiger – for so many reasons that really resonates with me. It’s been a very rough year for me personally (except for a life-changing hip replacement) and I’m eager to put the ugliness of 2009 behind me.
That applies to the national scene as well. 2009 was indeed an ugly year as were the 3 before it. Our founding fathers fought on these ideals:
“…But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security…”
It’s time for us to man-up and make the changes that need to be made. Clean 0ut the sewer that is politics in this country.

Great post Pup!
In 2009, they awakened the sleeping tiger inside what had been the silent majority. In the Year of the Tiger, they will face his wrath!
