“High Noon” Starring Sen. Tom Coburn

by Pup on March 18, 2010

I know that many people think that no one in Washington is worth keeping up there.  That they all need to go, to be booted out. I think that most of them do need to go, and even the ones I like make mistakes and bad choices, and I don’t always agree with them.

But, if you think that the GOP just doesn’t know how to fight, I think you’d be wrong.  Watch my senator, Dr. Tom Coburn, give this warning to the Dems who might be contemplating putting their vote up for sale.

I’ll do my part to keep this man in Washington, D.C., for as long as he wants to stay up there, or for as long as he fights like this, whichever comes first.

Thanks, Kathy, at Watching The Nation, for the H/T.

Finally! Some Real Hope And Change!

From Washington Examiner:

Sen. Coburn to House Dems: If you vote ‘yes’ this time, I will expose your pork and filibuster your nomination after you lose

Dr. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., the Senator from bomb-throw:

SEN. TOM COBURN (R), OKLAHOMA: I want to send a couple of messages to my colleagues in the House.

If you voted no and you vote yes, and you lose your election, and you think any nomination to a federal position isn’t going to be held in the Senate, I’ve got news for you. It’s going to be held.

Number two is, if you get a deal, a parochial deal for you or your district, I’ve already instructed my staff and the staff of seven other senators that we will look at every appropriations bill, at every level, at every instance, and we will outline it by district, and we will associate that with the buying of your vote. So, if you think you can cut a deal now, and it not come out until after the election, I want to tell you that isn’t going to happen. And be prepared to defend selling your vote in the House.

This is the Washington, D.C. equivalent of “I shall avenge unto the fourth generation and salt your family’s plot of land with your blood.” For once, some real change in D.C.

See it live and in person:

I too am so proud of Coburn, and Inhofe. I am proud that we are the reddest state, and we did less to help Obama into the White House than any other State.

Coburn’s statement today was as blunt as it could be. Unfortunately, that is necessary with this administration.

God bless Oklahoma! I agree with you, “finally some hope and change.”

I am hearing so many things. Fox says Dems now need only 2 votes. Other estimates are much larger.

Thanks so much for coming by place. Nice to meet you CP:-)

If I didn’t put it in my comment, and in case you don’t get my reply to your comment, I just added you to my blogroll:-)

One step at a time. To save this country that’s how we have to approach it. I like Coburn’s step.

Kris, I like his step also, I only wish more would stand up and say no more.
